Lewis states that “even if I am wrong and open access turns out not to be the disruption that takes down the established players of the scholarly journal publishing world, someone will come along with an idea that will…” (18) This recent article in the Chronicle of Higher Education, however, suggests the weaknesses of open access should cause us to look at "established players" again -- and to recognize critical differences among them. Should libraries take a closer look at non-open access academic-society journals? If so, why? If not, why not?
